How to become an Umpire in Georgina
All you need are these qualifications:
- A desire to earn extra money $$$$
(all umpires, at all levels, are paid) - You must be 14 years of age or older
- Either male or female
- You must be a certified (level one and up) umpire, or willing to attend a local instructional clinic to become certified
But...I don't have the extra time
You only need to umpire the games you want. With a sufficient number of umpires, you can virtually pick your own schedule of games.
I Can't handle the pressure
Baseball players start in T-Ball at 6 years old and all games require umpires. Rookie ball players are 8 & 9 years old. There is no pressure, just fun. When you feel more comfortable, you can move to the older age groups. Whether you're a new or seasoned umpire, you pick your level.
So, mom & dad, brother & sister, come out and try it. We really need the help and who knows, you might have some fun and learn some too. Look back here or the Georgina Advocate for updates and information on the upcoming season. If you are already a Level I, II or III umpire, and are interested in umpiring this coming season, please call our head umpire.
Level 1 & 2 Umpire's Clinic
The OBA requires that persons be at least 14 years old to hold a level 2 certification. Come out and take a clinic and become an umpire. Remember all umpires are paid to umpire any GMBA game. Within our own ranks we have umpires that span from Level 1 through 3. If you're interested, and I'm sure you are, contact our head umpire Brad Price at priceonice@rogers.com .
Level 3 Umpire's Clinic- More info Coming
This intended for those who have had a number of years experience as a carded umpire. You need to be carded and have a previous certification to attempt your level 3 umpire's certification. You should at least have a very good working knowledge of the game and it's rules. If you're interested, and I'm sure you are, contact our head umpire Brad Price at priceonice@rogers.com .
